Our history…

DS Coachworks was founded by partners Darren Sentance and Sharon Taylor, with a joint love of reworking historic vehicles and bringing them back to life.

1995 where the passion began…

Darren is no stranger to the bus industry, dating back to 1995, where he began work experience with Mainline. As a young bus enthusiast, Darren took a particular fascination with buses, especially the Mainline livery and the paint aspect side of things.

 1997 training begins…

After realising his love with all things painting and buses, Darren began a full-time role with Mainline as a Service Assistant conducting painting duties at their former Halfway garage in Sheffield.

 2009 …

Wanting to up his career further and gain industry recognised qualifications, Darren completed an apprenticeship as a body maker, and that same year he accepted a job as a coach painter, which he worked in until redundancy in 2024.

 2014 …

During this period, Darren started carrying out a few private paint jobs, and started to get a real passion for doing the work for himself. Sharon, at this point encouraged Darren to set up his own painting business offering services privately and commercially.

2018…

 Giving Darren the final push and encouragement to set up DS Coachworks, Sharon left her job and set up DSC in her name as a sole trader.

 2020…

 During 2020, DS Coachworks were approached by First South Yorkshire to undertake several repaints for the Olive Grove depot fleet. This was a great opportunity to take on commercial work, and saw DS Coachworks become a limited company, with both Darren and Sharon being directors.

 Today…

As of today, DS Coachworks have completed an array of spray paint jobs, and have become specialists in traditional coach painting and commercial roller brush application. Next steps for 2026, are to involve our spray painter to develop a specialist spray painting service for cars and vans, and also conversion work too.
